While the pandemic is responsible for the fact that we have not been able to meet in person at any ISPO trade show for almost two years, the situation is certainly particularly challenging for the trade show organizers. In the wake of the many cancellations and digital substitutes, the ISPO Group team has undergone several changes since the last ISPO Munich in 2020. Many long-time employees, who were trusted partners for the industry over the years, have left Messe München in the meantime.

The latest change in the management ranks is the departure of Dr. Jeanette Friedrich, former head of ISPO Group. As a consequence, Tobias Gröber is again taking over the management of ISPO Group as “head of ISPO” in addition to running the consumer goods division of Messe München. Gröber has been an integral part of ISPO for more than 20 years.

Another important change is the appointment of Lena Haushofer as project director of ISPO Munich and OutDoor by ISPO, effective Feb. 1. Haushofer will have overall responsibility for both shows and report directly to Gröber. The trained event manager has been with Messe München since 2011, most recently as community manager for the outdoor section of both ISPO shows.

Alexandra Denker succeeds Basti Dietz as bike and snowsports community manager for ISPO Munich and IAA Mobility. Denker joined Messe München in 2019 and brought a wealth of experience in marketing and management of winter sports and bike events to the ISPO Group from her previous employments.

Claudia Klingelhöfer, editor-in-chief of ISPO.com, has also left the team. While Klingelhöfer has found a new home at EDM Publications, Karsten Lohmeyer, previously ISPO.com’s external editorial service provider, is the new chief content officer for all of ISPO’s online publications and also takes over as interim editor-in-chief.

The next trade show to be organized by the new ISPO Group team will be OutDoor by ISPO on June 12-14, 2022, at the MOC event center in Munich, followed by ISPO Munich on November 28-30 at the exhibition center in Munich-Riem.
