Mats Hedblom

Hedblom first became involved with Haglöfs in 1988, after Frosta Fritid was acquired by Bagheera. By 1989, he was helping to develop Haglöfs’ first clothing line. When Haglöfs became a standalone operation in the early 1990s, Hedblom transitioned fully to the brand. In 1993, he was appointed CEO, a post he held until 2010. Under his leadership, Haglöfs expanded from its roots in backpacks to hiking boots and technical apparel, launched the best-selling “Tight” backpack model, and broadened distribution from Scandinavia to global markets.

Known for his humble, hands-on style, Hedblom was widely respected for nurturing both the company and its people. Even after stepping down from Haglöfs he remained active in the industry, later joining the board of Swedish outerwear maker Didriksons when it was acquired by Adelis Equity Partners.

Haglöfs credited Hedblom with helping shape its modern identity. “His impact on the brand, and on those who worked with him, is lasting,” the company wrote. Colleagues remember him as a leader who combined vision with a deep understanding of outdoor consumers and product development.
