In 2009, Patagonia donated more than $3.8 million to environmental grassroots organizations around the world to fulfill its promise to give 1 percent or more of its turnover to actions to save the planet. Since 1973, the total amount of money or merchandise which has been donated accumulates to $34 million. Currently, the brand supports 398 organizations of which 26 are European, most of them French-based or operating from the U.K., German-speaking and Benelux countries and the Czech Republic.
