It looks like the choice of Interlaken as the venue for next September's European Outdoor Summit was a good one. The number of ski visits went up by 7.4 percent in Switzerland during the autumn/winter 2017/18 season. More interestingly, a further 17.0 percent increase was recorded in the number of tourists in the Swiss mountain resorts between May and October, as compared to the previous year, thanks to exceptionally warm weather, a slight drop in the value of the Swiss franc and investments made in the past years. The local operators have introduced new services and facilities at the Swiss resorts, including new mountain cycling paths, suspended bridges, aquatic sports and cultural festivals to attract tourists all year round.
