Katadyn, very probably the global market leader in portable water purifying solutions, is calling back certain products of its Optimus stove brand. No incident has happened so far, but the potential risk of a fire hazard applies to Optimus’ “Nova” and “Nova+” expedition stoves which were delivered between January 2009 and September 2010. The recall is voluntary and it includes about 11,500 units. Certain conditions can lead to torn or expanded o-rings that might become a fire hazard. A sharp edge left over from tooling may cause the O-rings to tear and the rings on some stoves might expand with the use of certain kinds of fuel.
