People who hold passes to campgrounds run by private businesses with the U.S. Forest Service will not see a fee increase after a decision made by the chief of the agency, Tom Tidwell. The Forest Service had proposed changing discounts given to seniors and the disabled from 50 percent to 10 percent, but in the wake of a public comment in which more than 4,000 Americans weighed in, the decision was reversed. The Forest Service’s goal is to maintain the health and diversity of the country’s forests and grasslands.
