Patagonia will host one-day Worn Wear Thrift Shops in Stockholm and Munich this November, allowing visitors to purchase repaired, pre-used Patagonia gear. This initiative underscores Patagonia’s commitment to extending the life of its products as part of its sustainability focus. In 2023, Patagonia repaired over 100,000 items globally, reinforcing its commitment to keep products in circulation and reduce environmental impact.

The upcoming thrift shops follow previous pop-ups in cities like London, Berlin, and Amsterdam, building on Patagonia’s mission to encourage conscious consumption. Each thrift shop offers a selection of Patagonia’s high-quality, refurbished gear, highlighting the brand’s lifetime “ironclad” guarantee and dedication to longevity. Patagonia aims to promote responsible production and consumption through these events, featuring panel discussions on the environmental importance of quality. Panelists from the outdoor industry, apparel brands, and research communities will speak about the need for sustainable practices in fashion.

All proceeds from these thrift shops will benefit local grassroots organizations within Patagonia’s 1% for the Planet network, aligning with the company’s long-standing environmental commitments. By promoting repair and reuse, Patagonia emphasizes that keeping clothing in use for even nine extra months can significantly reduce carbon, waste, and water footprints by 20-30 percent, according to the UK-based WRAP group.

“At Patagonia, everything we produce is built with responsibility to people and the planet in mind. Even with this commitment, the best product is the one that already exists,” Patagonia Senior Director Wendy Savage explains the brand’s approach. She added that the Munich and Stockholm events aim to foster a community dialogue on supply chain transparency and thoughtful consumption.

The Stockholm event will be live-streamed from Patagonia’s website and feature international speakers, including Wendy Savage, Professor Karin M. Ekstrom and Naturkompaniet’s Jakob Broman
