The Sustainability Working Group of the European Outdoor Group has formed a committee to look into more eco-friendly business models. The “End of Life” solutions, as they are being called, include sustainable business models; quantification of key economic, ecological and social impacts; and solutions that optimize value while keeping an eye on the ecological footprint. It will focus on the industry as a whole, as opposed to current plans that are enacted within companies. Its goal is to have at least 10 major brands committed to this new business model by 2012, to involve stakeholders in the implementation, and making the model adaptable for the textile and fashion industries as well. Adrian Huber of Mammut Sports Group is the chairman of the committee.
