Timberland said it will plant one tree in Haiti for every response to its “Virtual Forest” application on Facebook, up to a target of one million trees. Planting trees in the Dominican Republic, Beijing, Madrid and other locations is also part of the initiatives that will be taken by Timberland for the 14th time in connection with Earth Day, mobilizing more than 7,200 volunteers for over 50,000 hours of service. The company said it cut its carbon emissions by 38 percent in the last four years, instead of a planned 50 percent reduction, because of record high and low temperatures and increased air travel last year. The goal has been pushed back to 2015.
