Vista Outdoor, which has decided to divest its Savage firearms business, reported an organic sales decline of 7 percent in its first quarter ended on June 30. Sales of outdoor products fell by 19 percent to $222.0 million, and they were also down by 7 percent excluding the divested eyewear business, generating a flat gross margin of 25.1 percent. The group's net loss declined to $16.6 million on total revenues of $459.7 million. The sale of Savage has led REI to resume purchases of Camelbak, Bell and Giro products from Vista.
