While its sales in the Americas dipped by 6 percent in the second quarter, with a drop of 4 percent in constant currencies, the Thule Group's sales in Europe and the rest of the world jumped by 18 percent, or 12 percent in local currencies, driven by Sport & Cargo Carriers and the Active with Kids category. Bike carriers and roof boxes performed particularly well, following recent new product introductions. The Active with Kids category continued to grow rapidly, driven by the award-winning Thule Chariot multi-sport trailer and the updated Thule Urban Glide 2 stroller. Packs, Bags & Luggage posted stable growth. The strongest increases were recorded in France, Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic. Overall, the group's sales growth accelerated to 7.0 percent on an adjusted basis in the quarter. In reported terms, revenues rose by 10.2 percent to 2,155 million Swedish kronor (€208.8m-$244.2m). The operating margin improved by 0.1 percentage point to 24.3 percent. Net income from continuing operations grew by 10.7 percent to SEK 385 million (€37.3m-$43.6m).
