Schöffel is expanding its management team to stimulate its international expansion. The decision was made after the voluntary departure of Günther Herrmann, who had led Schöffel's marketing and sales department since 2018 as well as its product business unit since January.

All the three business units that he previously supervised – marketing, sales and product – will now have a key person in charge.

Reiner Gerstner, 58, has been appointed as head of marketing. He previously served as chief marketing officer at TQ-Group, a technology firm, and prior to that, he spent 13 year in various roles at the Oberalp Group.

Stefan Merkt, a former chief sales officer of Mammut, had been appointed sales director at Schöffel last October. Peter Sontheimer, who had joined Schöffel at the beginning of this year to lead product development, is now moving into the company's management board as head of the German company's product business unit, responsible for product management, design, engineering and innovation.

He previously worked for Ziener as managing director and head of product management, design and purchasing. Sontheimer also worked for over two decades at Vaude.

Schöffel, which had sales of around €100 million last year, is a family-owned company that employs more than 200 people. It is still managed by Peter Schöffel in the family's seventh generation.
