A pilot program for retail training run by the Outdoor Industries Association in the U.K. concluded at the end of September. Skillsmart Retail managed the program, intended to improve staff skills in the industry. Six members of the OIA participated, with employees going through a series of modules designed to create and promote the best practice for training and skills development in the outdoor retail sector. Using information gleaned from the pilot program, the OIA is now coming up with longer-term retail training plans.
