(Already published in the Asia Outdoor issue) Mont-bell, the big Japanese producer of premium outdoor products, opened a new office in Tokyo on June 27 in order to manage its expansion in the Japanese market; but its headquarters remain in Osaka. The new office in downtown Tokyo incorporates a mono-brand store, a domestic sales team and an additional marketing team. Mont-bell opened seven new stores in Japan in the first half of 2013, bringing the number of corporate mono-brand stores in the brand's domestic market to 82, excluding three franchised units. Three additional doors will open in the autumn of 2013. This company will also open its first North American store in November, located in Portland, Oregon. It is looking for distributors in Germany, France and the U.K.
