The Marine Electronics division of Johnson Outdoors has acquired the assets of Waypoint Technologies, maker of LakeMaster, a brand of high-definition electronic lake charts in the U.S. The deal includes Pro Map Technologies, the inland water survey techniques and bathymetric data processing technology of LakeMaster, providing future exclusivity of an expanded portfolio of LakeMaster digital maps for Humminbird fishfinders. Details of the transaction were not released. LakeMaster combines GIS data for inland lakes and waterways with GPS and sonar technologies to make its lake charts. The company, which was founded in 1992, will remain at its base in Minnesota when it is integrated with the Marine Electronics business.
