The American Conservation Alliance raised nearly $50,000 from 20 companies at last month's Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City by selling products at big discounts and donating up to 100 percent of the proceeds. The list of the donors included Black Diamond, Camelbak, Chaco, Canada Goose, Columbia Sportswear, Eagle Creek, Icebreaker, Montrail, Nemo, Nikwax, Outdoor Research, Osprey Packs and Thorlo, among others. The 22-year-old nonprofit organization that received the funds has contributed more than $9.5 million to grass-roots environmental projects. It has helped to save more than 50.5 million acres of wildlands, to stop or remove 28 water dams, and to provide access to waterways and climbing areas.
