The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) unveiled at the OutDoor show yesterday the ten projects that it is funding this year, out of 74 project applications. Several European magazines encouraged an estimated four million readers to vote for their favorite project in three separate project categories: nature, outdoor and alpine. A total of 55,263 votes were cast to help choose them. The projects being funded by EOCA in 2012 are, among others: the Tough EU Action on Marine Litter project, the Restoration of the Kaiserjoch Trail in Austria, the Mountain Clean Up project, the Coastal Protection Activists from the U.K., the Steall George Path Repair project and the Conservation of Large Carnivores project in the West Carpathians. Furthermore, Nikwax decided to entirely fund one project, the Landscape Dynamics in Sagamartha National Park. Like last year, Original Buff will again entirely fund three specific projects with the revenues from a couple of merino and organic cotton scarves.
