California-based company Circular Systems is a new C.L.A.S.S. material hub partner, promoting its circular, regenerative solutions for transforming waste into net positive fibers, yarns and fabrics through the platform based in Milan, Italy. In its own words, C.L.A.S.S. identifies fibers, yarns, fabrics that embody creativity, innovation and sustainability at the forefront of technological advancements and responsibility.
Circular Systems has three waste-to-fiber platforms that offer the sustainable management of textile and agricultural waste:
- Agraloop: a processing technique to turn plant stems and leaves (mostly oilseed hemp/flax, CBD hemp, banana and pineapple into Agraloop Biofibre
- Texloop: a recycled fiber made with cotton or blended with man-made cellulose to create yarns for knitting and weaving
- Orbital: hybrid yarns using organic and recycled fiber inputs for fabrics with fast-drying and wicking properties.
All Circular Systems yarns are GRS, OCS and/or GOTS-certified and are in the process of developing their own crop residue standard with Textile Exchange that would relate to the Agraloop platform technology. “We are interested in leveraging the excellent team and platform of C.L.A.S.S. to build production partnerships with integral manufacturers in the EU supply chain and offer these products to brands across the region,“ said Isaac Nichelson, CEO and co-founder at Circular Systems.
