A precursor in the market for performance stand-up paddling (SUP) products and the founder of Rogue SUP in 2008, Rock Karr has been appointed as general manager of Boardworks. This surf and SUP brand from Carlsbad belongs to Confluence Outdoor, the U.S. company specializing in water sports equipment. Karr is to supervise and manage all aspects of the Boardworks business from brand development to retail initiatives, leaning on the infrastructure of the Confluence Outdoor group. Sue Rechner, Confluence Outdoor's chief executive, said in a statement that the appointment underscores the group's mission to build Boardworks' leadership position in the SUP category. Confluence Outdoor acquired Boardworks in 2015 to expand more forcefully into the SUP category. The entire group comprises seven other water sports brands, including Wilderness Systems, Perception, Dagger and Mad River Canoe.
