Andi and Heidi Brun, the founders of Exped, will be retiring by the end of the year. Andi Brun is head of innovation and IT and responsible for the development of mats, hammocks, bivy bags and ponchos, while Heidi Brun is the company's general manager. They will continue to work as consultants and remain the owners of the company. Hubi Rutishauser, responsible for international sales, Marc Raillard, responsible for product management, and Betti Frangi, responsible for IT and marketing, will take over the management of the 20-year-old Swiss company from January 2018. Exped, which won this year's OutDoor Gold Awards in the sleeping bags & sleeping mats category for its DownMat TT 9, increased its sales by 30 percent last year, with 75 percent of its sales made outside the German-speaking countries. Important foreign markets are the U.S., Scandinavia, the U.K. and Australia. In the U.S., Exped has its own subsidiary. A year ago Exped started to sell its products in the Ukraine through a distributor, Gorgany.
