Angel Martinez, who retired as chief executive of Deckers Brands a year ago, after 11 years in the post, had decided to run for mayor of his home town, Santa Barbara, California. The election will be held next November. Martinez, who left Cuba in 1958 to emigrate to the U.S., worked previously for Reebok International and served as president and chief executive of The Rockport Company for many years.
