Archroma, the Swiss producer of chemicals and dyes, has made Heike van de Kerkhof its chief executive. She is replacing Alexander Wessels, the founding CEO, who is becoming both vice chairman of the board and a senior adviser to the company's owner, SK Capital. The latter acquired the textile chemicals, paper specialties and emulsions businesses of Clariant Corporation in September 2013 and combined them under the single name Archroma. Van de Kerkhof was most recently vice president of lubricants for the Western Hemisphere and member of the supervisory board at BP, which generates annual revenues of $2 billion. Archroma has of late been developing a formaldehyde-free-low temperature curing binder for pigment printing, a range of high wet-fast disperse dyes for polyester fibers in sportswear and activewear, and an environmentally friendly dye that mimics indigo.
