Black Diamond Equipment has appointed Robert Fry as its vice president in charge of merchandising. He is to supervise all aspects of Black Diamond's merchandising, from equipment to apparel, for the business units covering climbing, skiing and mountain products. He will also be part of the company's management team. Fry was previously the global director of product merchandising and design at Mountain Hardwear, and he worked in the outdoor brand's research development department across product categories. John Walbrecht, who became president of Black Diamond Equipment last October, was previously brand president at Mountain Hardwear, albeit for just seven months. Other former employers for Fry include The North Face, where he was senior product manager, and Simms Fishing Products.
