Cherokee Global Brands, which is changing its name to Apex Global Brands at the end of June, has appointed a current director, Evan Hengel, to chairman of the board. Hengel has had a seat on the board since October 2018 and been a managing director at the Berkeley Research Group since 2017. He has also served as interim chief financial officer at IMRIS, a medical-imaging company in Minnesota, and worked in corporate finance and restructuring at FTI Consulting in Los Angeles. Cherokee was founded in 1973 in Venice Beach, California. It owns Hi-Tec, Tony Hawk and a number of other lifestyle brands.
