Cober, an Italian manufacturer of ski, trekking and Nordic walking poles, has appointed Vinicio Rossi to the new position of commercial director, responsible for domestic and foreign markets. For Cober, which has been working on an OEM basis for big companies such as Décathlon, Head and Elan, the move signals its intention to diversify from the private-label business, which generates the bulk of its annual sales of around €5 million. For this purpose, Rossi is looking for agents in Austria and Germany and for distributors in other markets. Rossi has worked for many different sports brands in the past few years including Saucony, Northwave, Nidecker, Marker, Völkl and Dalbello. He last acted as area sales manager for Dalbello, responsible for Eastern Europe and South America. Meanwhile, Cober, which prides itself on making all its products in Italy, is developing a special new product for introduction at the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen.
