Columbia Sportswear is reorganizing its Central European management to shift responsibilities from a focus on countries to product categories to be handled supranationally: The company has appointed Stefan Gmeiner, so far sales manager for Germany, to the new position of category manager in charge of apparel, base layers and accessories for Germany, Slovenia and the Netherlands. Correspondingly, Erwin van Dop, until now senior sales manager in the Dutch market, is now in charge of the footwear and hardgoods categories in the same three countries. The two of them will report to Mike Kaier, country manager for that region.
