Morakniv, a Swedish manufacturer of quality knives since 1891, has hired Johan Burtus as CEO. Burtus returns to the region where he was born and raised after spending much of his career abroad, including in Poland, Finland and China. For several years, he ran his own consulting business, helping clients, primarily in Asia, with leadership and team development issues. He has also led turnaround improvement projects and has been involved in both the formation and liquidation of companies and manufacturing units. Burtus joins Morakniv from a position as CEO of Willab AB, a privately held company active in agriculture, animal health and equestrian sports.

Burtus’ roots in the Dalarna region and his dedication to Mora feel particularly fitting as Morakniv celebrates 130 years of knife-making heritage. Earlier this year, the brand announced a limited edition special anniversary edition of the legendary Mora 2000 knife, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. Each knife in this special collection will be engraved with the dates 1891-2021 and will only be produced this year.
