The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has announced that its executive director, Amy Roberts, will leave the association at the end of September to become senior director of communications and corporate social responsibility at The North Face. Roberts was appointed as OIA's executive director in 2015, after serving the organization in other capacities previously. The search for her successor at the head of the OIA is already underway. Roberts will remain at the helm until the end of September and will support the subsequent transition. Roberts was appointed executive director in July 2015, to replace Frank Hugelmeyer. As such, she managed the Outdoor Retailer show's move from Salt Lake City to Denver, spearheaded the “Together We are a Force” campaign and launched a revised “Thrive Outside” campaign. Earlier in her decade at the OIA, she led initiatives dealing with government affairs and sustainability, helping to increase funding for parks and trails and establish state offices for outdoor recreation. Before joining the OIA, Roberts was director of sustainability and a member of the executive leadership team at Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC). It was before MEC that she was OIA's vice president of government affairs. Elsewhere, Roberts serves on the boards of The Conservation Alliance, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
