Trond Langeland has been appointed chief executive of Viking Outdoor Footwear, the Norwegian outdoor footwear brand owned by Bertel O. Steen. Langeland will take over on May 13 after serving in several other sales, marketing and executive functions in consumer goods companies such as Orkla, Jordan and Canon. For the last six years he has led the turnaround of Stanley Black & Decker's electronic security operations in Norway. The previous chief executive was Håkon Nygård, who left the company last month. The group's board said at the time that Nygård was retiring but that he would remain available for a transitional period, while his duties as chief executive were taken over as interim by Christoffer Jahr, one of the company's board members and a partner at XO executive advisors. Viking Outdoor Footwear supervises the Viking outdoor footwear brand as well as the operations of a joint venture that handles sales of the Berghaus brand in the Nordics. The Viking brand is strongest in children's footwear, wellingtons and outdoor footwear.
