Haglöfs and Asics have set up a development center for outdoor and trail running shoes, which will enable the two companies to implement a dual-brand strategy for this category and to share technologies. The development center is based at Asics' head office in Japan, with a relay in Europe, Abe Masa, who moved from Kobe at the start of this month. The range of trail running shoes introduced by Haglöfs at the OutDoor fair already features some of Asics' technologies, such as Gel and Solyte. The range includes six models, some of them using Gore-Tex, and the design is based on the same bright monochrome theme as Haglöfs' Intense apparel and equipment ranges for next year. As part of the new arrangement, the trail running range was designed by Haglöfs but developed and sourced by Asics. More news from Haglöfs in our regular issue.
