Intersport Germany is strengthening its position on the local outdoor market. The buying group's latest forecast says that its members' entire sales at retail prices, which also include sales in outdoor footwear, apparel and equipment, will increase from €2.3 billion to €2.4 billion in 2008 compared with 2007. Without mentioning absolute figures, Intersport records an increase in sales of 8 percent for the first eight months of the current calendar year – which is not the groupfs fiscal year ending Sept.r 30. The driving forces behind the growth have been football, running and outdoor. The outdoor segment grew by 14 percent in the first six months and is expected to reach the mark of €500 milion at retail prices for the first time ever by the end of the year.
