The Katadyn Group, global market leader for portable water purification solutions, had stable sales of 45 million Swiss francs (€37.1m-$50.5m) last year. While demand from outdoor consumers was flat, partly due to bad weather in spring 2013, the Swiss group suffered on the export front because of the continued strength of the local currency.

Last year's results had to compete with an unusual evolution in 2012, when Katadyn took advantage of strong demand in connection with the expiration of the Mayan calendar. Since Doom's Day was cancelled, the Swiss group had to struggle with lower demand last year in the survival preparedness sector.

On the other hand, Katadyn managed to receive substantial orders from the Swedish Army and others. Also, its French subsidiary's sales grew by 10.5 percent.
