A number of outdoor associations have formed the Italian Outdoor Federation. The new body aims to coordinate the activities of established and new associations covering 40 different outdoor activities, interacting with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), which regulates and promotes sports in Italy. Headquartered in Turin, the new association is run by Marino Giacometti, a sports enthusiast who is president of the International Skyrunning Federation.
