About 20,000 Grigiri 2 belay devices are being recalled by Petzl America, because the handle can become stuck in the open position, disabling the braking function and posing the risk of falling to the user. The recall includes 18,000 of the devices in the U.S. and 2,000 in Canada. No injuries have been reported. The affected serial numbers, which are engraved on the body of the product, start with the numbers ranging from 10326 to 11136. Made in France, the devices, used for rock climbing, were sold in the U.S. and Canada between February and June 2011.
