Garmin International Inc., a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd., has prevailed in a proposed class action lawsuit over the battery life of some Garmin navigation units filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas in Meyers v. Garmin International. The plaintiff, Brian Meyers, claimed that Garmin's Nuvis navigators were sold with faulty lithium-ion batteries, which were prone to fail prematurely. The judgment is subject to appeal. Garmin serves five primary business units including outdoor recreation, fitness, marine, automotive, and aviation.
