The Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) of the U.S. is asking retailers and manufacturers to provide data for its biennial outdoor industry benchmarking reports. These reports are produced to help companies analyze performance metrics as well as financial, operating and compensation norms. The companies participating in the survey receive an array of benefits including an industry-wide summary report; a customized Profit Improvement Profile (PIP), which confidentially compares their results with those of peer groups and provides suggestions for improving profitability; and the “Profit Toolkit Online,” a spreadsheet-based tool that provides guidance to plan and track improvement. All outdoor industry retailers and manufacturers can participate ? companies do not have to be OIA members. Completed surveys are due by April 30. The survey file can be downloaded at www.outdoorindustry.org/benchmarking.
