Mammut has created a new division for category management in charge of international sales. The new department is structured into three categories - equipment, apparel and footwear - to synchronize the entire work flow for the three segments from market introduction over the whole supply chain until the point of sale in the various markets served by the Swiss group. The new unit is headed by Stefan Merkt, a former chief of Raichle , who will remain in charge of the footwear business unit. He will oversee Edgar Faller, formerly senior product manager, who will be in charge of apparel in the same department, while Daniel Steiner, formerly export manager, will run the equipment business. Mammut will also open its fourth single-branded store in Germany this spring. The shop will be located in downtown Cologne. Contrary to the franchised stores in Kempten, Bad Tölz and Berlin, the new Cologne door will be a corporate one. Mammut continues to prefer franchise partners, but could not find any appropriate retail partner in that city.
