OCC Outdoor, the U.K. trade publication, reports that Gelert, the big brand of camping and outdoor goods, has been sold to Jason Granite, a businessman who recently acquired the retail chain Yeoman's. The former owner is the company's founder, Alastair Langdon, who put the company in place as early as 1976 and who seeks retirement now. The magazine reports that the sale came shortly after the decision to shutdown Gelert's office and warehouse at the headquarters in Porthmadog, cutting 70 jobs. When this issue went to press, Gelert executives were not available for comment.
