Petzl, the French climbing company, has appointed Patrick Werlé as its new global sales director in charge of both the brand's sports and work protection business. Werlé's position was vacant for about half a year after his predecessor, Henri de Rocca-Serra, left the company at the beginning of this year. Until July, Werlé had worked for Rossignol for 30 years before he left the company at his own request. At Rossignol, his last position was managing director for Europe, a position in which he supervised all of Rossi's European subsidiaries and distributors. In 2006, Petzl's global sales were at €75 million, 80 percent outside France. The family-owned company employs 400 people.
