Aku, Asolo, Garmont, Viking and Kamik have adopted W.L. Gore's new Surround waterproof/breathable technology in their outdoor shoes for the first time, incorporating it into their spring/summer 2016 lines. They are joining 25 other international sports and outdoor brands that have already started using Gore-Tex Surround, not including some Asian brands that are distributed locally. Among the 200-plus models of Surround-fitted outdoor shoes offered for spring/summer 2016 will be the first one featuring a knitted upper, which has been developed by Meindl. In addition, less technical casual shoes with Surround membranes have been put out by 17 brands including Ecco, Lowa and Salewa.
