U.S. brand Carhartt has unveiled its updated Yukon Extremes collection. According to the label, the new edition of the workwear collection first introduced over 25 years ago is the brand’s warmest, most durable gear to date, but without any added weight compared to previous collections. It’s also the first time Yukon Extremes apparel will be available for women and as fleece. To ensure that the Yukon Extremes range would protect hard-working people in extreme conditions, Carhartt sourced a variety of fabrics that were subjected to rigorous testing. The company also developed its own abrasion tests to test fabric durability. It chose a 500-denier Cordura outer fabric and 3M Thinsulate insulation for most of the collection pieces. Cordura, an Invista brand of durable fabrics, is also used in military gear and apparel, for example. Carhartt worked closely with 3M throughout the design process to introduce a new reflective safety technology that offers reflective performance and versatility.
