Columbia Sportswear has introduced in the U.S. a footwear line designed for both the city and the trail. The SH/FT Collection takes inspiration from the growing tendency among city dwellers to seek balance in their lives by heading to the outdoors. The idea, as Columbia puts it, is to allow such customers to “move seamlessly from pavement to path,” but “without sacrificing style.” The line has “high-energy” colorways, a midsole with a dual compound cushioning composite for durable resiliency and energy return, all-terrain traction, a deconstructed knit upper and OutDry, Columbia's breathable waterproofing. To promote the line, Columbia is working with Zedd, the Russian-German recording artist, DJ and producer who describes himself as a “huge sneakerhead.” Four styles for men and women were launched on Aug. 9 at select Columbia stores and on Columbia.com. Limited-edition styles developed with a few premium sneaker boutiques are on sale at select Atmos, ShoeGallery and Ubiq locations. A launch for Columbia's retail partners Foot Locker, Champs and Dick's Sporting Goods was set for Aug. 16.
