For fall 2023, Invista brand Cordura has introduced a new collection of nylon 6.6 fabrics from recycled raw material marketed under the Cordura re/cor line of recycled fibers. Re/cor is a trademark applied in November 2021 and works as a Cordura sub-brand for GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified post-consumer recycled polyester and pre-consumer RN6 fabric technologies within the Cordura offerings.
According to the company, the production of Cordura re/cor RN66 (recycled nylon 6.6) involves 83 percent less CO2, uses 82 percent less energy and 57 percent less water. The new RN66 fabrics are made from 100 percent pre-consumer fiber material that is 100 percent GRS certified and will be available in 36 colors. Nylon 6.6 is widely used throughout the industry, especially in packs and bags. Market researchers from 24 Chemical Research estimate the global Polyamide 6,6 market size around $8234.4 million in 2020 and expect it to reach $9572.4 million by the end of 2027.
