Mountain Hardwear has launched the PCT, a dedicated backpack for multi-day hiking that features what the manufacturer says is a revolutionary design to the industry-standard pivoting belt. According to Mountain Hardwear, the new Hoverbelt is a dynamic hip belt that synchronizes with the hiker’s natural movement for more comfortable and efficient load carrying.

“We were determined to elevate a long-standing pack innovation – the pivoting hipbelt – and better integrate it with a trampoline back panel, since the construction of one has historically impacted the effectiveness of the other,” said Charlie Ranahan, global product manager for gear and accessories at Mountain Hardwear. “With a unique attachment of four tethered points, not only does the hip belt move in a wider range of motion but it also more seamlessly integrates into the trampoline back panel without having to be directly attached, elevating the user’s comfort and carry experience with the increased range of motion.”

The PCT is also the most feature-rich backpack in Mountain Hardwear’s lineup, offered at a very competitive price point (e.g., $280 for the 55L unisex model). The line, which includes the already available women’s 50L and unisex 55L models and a women’s 65L and unisex 70L available in early June, also features fully recycled exterior materials, durable Cordura fabric in the boot and a DWR coating that is PC-free C0.
