Osprey PackSizer, the backpack fitting app developed by Osprey, has been recognized as a 2014 “Highly Commended” Innovation of the year by The Great Outdoors magazine. This recognition adds to the recent Ispo 2015 Communication Award in the mobile app category, and the app has already had more than 10,000 downloads, although it was only launched in March 2014. Osprey claims the PackSizer is “the world's first digital pack fitting tool.” Using the phone's camera, the app measures and matches torso size and gender to the ideal user's pack size across the Osprey range. First, it takes a full-length photo of the user's body, then it marks the user's height on the photo. Finally, it locates the user's upper and lower torso points. Once the size has been determined, the user can view the sizing results of every Osprey pack that ideally fits his or her body measurements. PackSizer can also send the results via email. Video tutorials are available in English, German and French.
