Rectifying some recent press reports, the management of Regatta Group indicates that the total number of its warehouse employees in the U.K. should grow from 165 to 220 as part of a reorganization of its logistics that will see each of its three brands – Regatta, Dare2b and Craghoppers – centralizing distribution at a different company-owned warehouse. The process began last summer when the group took on a brand-new 40,000-square-meter distribution center in the Ellesmere Port, near Liverpool's docks, which allowed it to stop working with two third-party warehouses in the northwest of England as of the beginning of this year. The new facility currently employs 80 people, and the company is recruiting an additional 30 people for the site. Regatta owns two other, older warehouses in the Manchester area, but contrary to the reports, neither is going to shut down. On the other hand, the company has started consultations to reduce its combined staff from 165 to 110 employees. The 55 people being laid off are being offered an opportunity to be transferred to Ellesmere Port, although the distance may be too far for many of them to travel.
