Joe Brown, which operates four outdoor stores under this name in the North Wales region of the U.K., has moved into the Lake District through its acquisition of The Climber's Shop. The latter store was founded in 1956 and was acquired in 1997 by Howgill Holdings, which also managed the Lyon Equipment distribution business. The Climber's Shop will retain its present name.
