Mammut has opened its 11th brand store in Germany, located in downtown Frankfurt. The 240-square-meter location is directly run by the company itself following its simple philosophy: Mammut prefers to have stores run through franchisees, but takes business into its own hands when the company fails to find an appropriate partner for a desired location. Frankfurt is actually a funny place with a poor retail landscape when you consider the wealth that is concentrated in the hub of major national and international banks, including the European Central Bank. On the outdoor level, there are some well-recognized stores such as Globetrotter, Sine and Alpin Basis, a store with a focus on Nordic brands that was originally supported by the Scandinavian Outdoor Group. Otherwise, Frankfurt has only a few general sporting goods retailers.
