Oberalp, the Italian-based parent company of Salewa, Dynafit and Wild Country, has agreed to represent Julbo, the 125-year-old French brand of technical sports eyewear, on the Italian market. Major synergies are expected between Salewa and Julbo in this important market. For the past 15 years, Julbo has been distributed in Italy by Camp, but this other Italian company has decided to stop distributing any outside brands and to concentrate efforts on its two house brands, Camp and Cassin. Julbo was the last outside brand in its portfolio. Unlike Camp, Oberalp has been adding more brands to its portfolio of distributed labels, not only in Italy but also in other countries where Salewa has its own sales office. As we have previously reported, Julbo has also changed the distribution recently in Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands, following the appointment of Pierre Burgelin as international sales director. With all these actions, Julbo should be in a position to sell more sunglasses abroad than in its home market of France as of next year. The export ratio is now 45 percent. Julbo has been growing at a double-digit rate for the past 15 years.
