SportScheck, Germany's largest sporting goods retailer, has opened its new high-tech flagship store in Munich on a net sales surface of 10,200 square meters. The store employs a staff of 250 people and offers some 30,000 different products under 530 brands, arranged by sports category and led by outdoor, running and action sports. The services include a fitness check for recommending specific sports activities, a 3D foot scanner for customizing ski boots, laser engraving machines for Adidas shoes and an optical department. Taking the place of its former 4,000-square-meter store on Sendlinger Strasse, it is located on Neuhauser Strasse, which is said to be the street with the highest footfall in Germany. It is housed in a new building on the site of a former Karstadt department store. Sport Scheck wants to open two mega-stores every year to help double its sales to €800 million by 2020.
